Pitt polder revisited

Photofestival Naarden | May, 2005

In 1957 Dutch photographer Frits Gerritsen travelled through North America Among many other places he visited the Pitt Polder, located about 50 kilometers east of Vancouver. A number of Dutch immigrants lived and worked here. Almost fifty years later I traveled to the polder with the documentation Gerritsen made. I looked for and worked with former inhabitants of the polder resulting in this and other exhibitions and the book Low Land – High Hills.
