One of the first assignments I got, back in the days when many local documentary photography assignments were still given, was to extend a personal project on the lives of people on inland navigation ships. I was interested in their nomadic existence on water. In this book the ongoing work gets a focus on Rotterdam, the final destination or point of department of many ships traveling up and down European water ways.
The publication was part of what was intended to become a series that never really took off beyond the first two issues by Helena van der Kraan and myself.
